Maintenance for Software
Maintenance for software offers continuous delivery of software updates when purchased with perpetual licenses or subscription licenses.  Perpetual licenses include maintenance for the first year but will require a new maintenance license to continue to receive updates after the first year.  If you have a subscription license, maintenance is active during the period of the subscription license only.

Perpetual Licenses
The software can be used indefinitely, and maintenance is included for the first 12 months. Maintenance can be extended by purchasing a maintenance license. If maintenance expires all features will be frozen to the last released version before expiration. The software will continue to work, but updates will require active maintenance. 

Maintenance Licenses
Maintenance for software is authorized through a maintenance license. A maintenance license extends the maintenance period for software enabling ongoing software updates. At a fraction of the price of the software itself, maintenance is the best way to stay up to date when new capability is released. The license applies to perpetual licenses only - considering subscriptions already include maintenance for the duration of the subscription period. A maintenance license should be applied on or before maintenance expiration to receive uninterrupted software updates. If maintenance does expire, it’s easy to extend the maintenance period by purchasing licenses sufficient to catch up and extend from the expiration date. Renewing your maintenance in this way provides a discount for securing updated software compared to purchasing the latest version outright.

Subscription Licenses
The software can be used through the term of the license only. Software updates and support through the term of the license are included. When the subscription license expires, all features will no longer work, but a new subscription license may be purchased.

Start of Subscription Licenses
The start of the subscription license is linked to when the order is complete.  At the time of purchase, an email will be sent to the licensee with the availability of the license.  The license term starts on the first day of the next Tek accounting period, typically at the start of the month.

How to Download Software Licenses?
At the time of purchase of a license, the Tektronix AMS system will send an email to the licensee with instructions on how to access Tek.com to create an account and password so you can access TekAMS system. Licenses can be checked out using the TekAMS application at http://www.tek.com/ams.
